We’re so used to associating relaxed vibes with Boho interior style but it isn’t as easy and effortless to achieve as it seems. When it comes to creating a Boho room in your own home many people get stuck. So here are top tips on an easy to achieve Boho room.
Neutral Colours
One of the key aspects of Boho interior style is neutral colours. You need to select a neutral colour scheme, ideally starting with three colours.
For example, beige, ivory and sage or grey, baby blue and white. Some Boho colour schemes also have earthy colours like terracotta.
Once you select your colour scheme then you need to apply these colours in balance. The relaxed vibe of Boho style relies on balance.
While Boho interior style seems eclectic and random, it’s not. Ensuring you have the right quantity of each colour from your colour scheme is important.
Let’s say you chose beige, ivory and sage as your three basic colour scheme. What colour will be your walls, sofa and accent be? Choose the colour of your walls first as walls make up the largest volume of surface area in any space.
For example, you apply these colour by having beige walls, sage sofa and ivory rug and cushions. But if you like bright colour, this can work too using the above colour rule and application.
Plenty of natural textures
While Luxe interior style has luxe textures like velvet, faux fur, and silk. Boho interior style depends on natural textures. Textures including wool, cotton, linen and jute. For example, you have a jute rug with a leather sofa and cotton cushions.
Mixing textures is key in Boho spaces. Texture has its own pattern, which provides interest and depth to a space. Another key texture for a Boho room is plants. Plants are an important element in Boho style as they encourage that all important relaxed vibe.
The different colours, shapes and textures of plants and their pots add value to this style. Ceramic pots can sit on the floor, be elevated in a stand or even hanging from a ceiling.
Another way to add texture is through a wall hanging like macrame or a gallery wall with a mix prints works also. Think of canvas, timber framed art (prints are fine) and I also really like decorative timber panels on walls as well.

So my key tip to nailing Boho interior style is choosing a Boho interior style colour scheme. Applying your colour scheme in a balanced way. My next key tip is adding a lot of natural textures in the space for variety, comfort, and depth. Then my final tip is to add plant life. Different plants in a variety of pots.
