If you can add just one more thing to think about in your day then think about these two easy ways to clear out stuff from your house or apartment. They don’t involve dedicating a weekend or sourcing a heap of boxes. Here are two easy ways to do a clear out of your apartment.
Removing one item per day
Based on my post about how a space can impact your mental health I think we need to add clearing out unwanted items to our everyday things to do list.
Things to do such as taking out the garbage, paying a bill or grocery shopping. I think it’s easier to adopt a new habit, if you attach it an existing part of our routine.
So the first easy way to do a clear out of your apartment is to take one thing you don’t want or need with you every time you leave the apartment.
Going to work, take one thing out with you. Going out to meet friends, take one thing out with you. Just once a day, put one thing aside you don’t want and get rid of it.
It could be a small thing or a big thing. Of course you need to dispose of it thoughtfully. Large items might need a hard rubbish collection request. Or you could also donate, or use Facebook marketplace to give things away for free or a cost.
But this is a simple way to reduce the mess and keep your space clear with a good flow for movement and energy.

Undertake an apartment clear out challenge
There are two challenges I’ve heard of to help you reduce the stuff in your house or apartment to remain clutter free.
One challenge is to remove the number of items based on what day of the month it is. So one item on 1st May, 2 items on 2nd May and so on.
This is easy to understand and builds gradually so by the end of the month you will have slowly but surely removed a lot of unwanted items from your apartment.
The second challenge is to remove 2025 items from your apartment. In line with the year we’re in. This is not necessarily a daily practice but gives you a goal to achieve in a timely manner.
Personally I prefer chipping away at goals, so I would do something daily for an impactful outcome overtime.
Chose a way to remove items from your apartment that you know you’re going to stick with. There are many good reasons for this. Firstly, keeping your apartment clutter free ensures that you don’t compromise functionality.
Secondly, a room free from unused, disliked, old, damaged, unnecessary items is a good way to keep your mental health in check by having a clutter free space.
These two easy ways to clear out your apartment are designed for successful apartment living. Living in apartment has benefits including less maintenance so keeping on top of your stuff is always helpful.
