Eclectic bedroom with drama

Eclectic bedroom with drama

Eclectic or boho interior style is all about the different elements of interior design working together in a seemingly random way. And yet for an eclectic (or boho) space to work there needs to be an a solid foundation.  In this dramatic eclectic buyable inspo board the foundation that tie in all the different pieces are shape, colour, texture and a floral pattern.

The Focal Pieces

Let’s start with the bedhead which features a floral pattern carving in a vintage white wooden frame.  It’s highly ornamental but against a contrasting grey feature wall, it would be stunning.  Although it is stunning on its own.

Because eclectic interior style is the opposite of ‘matching’ I’ve included two diffent bedside tables that have shape in common.  The black Shirley side table also includes a pattern that replicates the pattern in the bedhead and the Iris side table introduces marble and gold.  Both colour and material repeated, so it works.

The Complementary Pieces

In keeping with the foundations of this concept of shape, colour and texture we have two table lamps that follow the same shape, one table lamp has marble and the other has gold.  Connecting them to the side tables.

Instead of an end of bed bench I decided to go for two different ottomans.  One highly textural and one highly luxe, to work with the luxe gold and marble.

Then I included a dramatic velvet black floral cushion.  Again the floral pattern is repeated in the bedhead and the velvet in the ottoman.  Repetition is key in an eclectic interior style.

The pink cushion is highly textural, as is the natural jute ottoman.  To ground this dramatic eclectic buyable inspo board is a black, cream, and pink oriental rug.  I chose this for its colour scheme and floral pattern, and distressed natural which goes hand in hand with eclectic style.

Finally, the art is simple but I chose this sketch art for the curved line and colours which are also repeated through the ottomans, cushions and rug.

My Favourite  Pieces

My favourite piece is the natural jute and white ottoman.  I love how textural this piece is, it looks comfortable but it’s also one of those pieces that is simply yet striking.
